Who we are

CONVERGENCES, A PLATFORM FOR THOUGHT

Launched in 2008, Convergences is the first platform for thought in Europe that aims at building new convergences between public, private, and solidarity-based actors to promote the Sustainable Development Goals and the development of a world “Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty.”

Convergences seeks to engage with various stakeholders in order to disseminate good practices and to promote co-construction approaches with the aim of creating high impact and innovative partnerships.

Our scope of interest is wide ranging: sustainable development, international development, solidarity-based and inclusive finance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), social entrepreneurship, social and solidarity economy, and new technologies for change.

OUR AMBITION

We believe that a global and aligned mobilization of actors – citizens, local authorities, companies, public authorities, civil society, producers, consumers, the media, and researchers – is requisite to reduce poverty, combat exclusion and climate change. Each and everyone can contribute, individually and collectively, to build a world without exclusion, without carbon and without poverty.

OUR COMMON GOALS

OUR DNA

Alliances for a more inclusive and sustainable world

Exclusion, poverty and climate change are not separate issues but accumulate in large extent their effects at the expense of countries and the most disadvantaged populations. They must be addressed comprehensively and in an integrated manner.

Therefore, Convergences aims at:

  • Fostering debate and exchanges by being the platform where different types of actors (private sector, public sector, civil society, academics, media) exchange ideas and advocate for economic alternatives and innovative solutions around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Promoting convergent mobilisation of actors by gathering them around the objective “Zero exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty” and fostering a real cross-fertilisation between different stakeholders to answer the question: how can we contribute, at our own level and together, to delivering the SDGs?
  • Bringing forward concrete solutions to show how to go beyond statements of principle and how to take action to achieve the “Zero exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty”.

The mobilization of all public, private, and solidarity-based actors towards poverty reduction is essential.

As a true multidisciplinary platform for thought, Convergences brings together a network of more than 200 public, private, and solidarity-based partners from a variety of sectors towards a common goal: de-compartmentalizing these sectors and allowing dialogue, debates, and co-construction between all actors involved towards a more inclusive and responsible economy. Connecting public, private, and solidarity-based actors towards poverty reduction, Convergences builds a wide-scale gathering project to debate ideas, to advocate for economic alternatives, and to frame innovative action plans in order to co-construct a “Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty” world.
